UniBond Silicone Sealant Remover, 80ml

Make removing old silicone easier with UniBond Silicone Sealant Remover, a ready-to-use gel specially formulated to break down cured silicone sealant before it is replaced.

Its thick, non-slump consistency allows the product to remain in contact with silicone residue while it works, helping soften and break down unwanted sealant for easier removal.

The remover can be used across a variety of suitable surfaces, including ceramic tiles, glass, painted surfaces and most plastics. This makes it particularly useful when replacing old silicone around baths, showers, sinks, toilets and other sealed joints.

Contact time depends on the thickness of the remaining silicone. Residue less than 2mm thick may require up to 4 hours, while approximately 2mm of silicone may require 4–6 hours. Residue thicker than 2mm can require approximately 6–12 hours.

If traces of silicone remain after the first application, the process can be repeated. Before applying fresh sealant, the prepared surface should be thoroughly cleaned to help achieve a clean new joint.

How to Use

Remove as much of the old silicone sealant as possible before applying the remover to the remaining residue.

Apply the product to the silicone residue and leave it to work for the appropriate amount of time. Allow up to 4 hours for residue below 2mm thick, approximately 4–6 hours for 2mm residue and around 6–12 hours for silicone thicker than 2mm.

Remove the softened silicone and repeat the application if traces remain. Before applying fresh silicone sealant, clean the surface thoroughly with methylated spirit.

Always test coated or unfamiliar surfaces in an inconspicuous area first.
